It’s been a bumpy ride for the Emperor football team this season. In the last month, the Emperors have faced off against Washington Union, Hanford, Tulare Western and Lemoore.
By far the closest game was Washington Union where the final score was (23-24). The offense scored three touchdowns and the defense assisted with a touchdown of their own. The defense was scored on once, while kickoff was scored on twice, and the offense was scored on once. The offense struggled to get the ball moving at the start of the game but found their groove towards the middle of the third quarter, continuing to the fourth. Although the offense came up short they put up a glorious fight against the Washington Union, The defense didn’t let up, fighting multiple goal line scenarios, and only let up one touchdown the entire game. Overall, the Washington Union game was Dinuba’s most thrilling game of the season to date.
Hanford was another loss, the score being (6-43). Initially, it was a close game with Dinuba being the first to score, but Hanford quickly made up for the deficit. The offense struggled to get downfield only scoring one touchdown. The defense was battling all game but was hindered by an injury to their starting D tackle Pedro Hernandez (74). Despite the injury, the defense fought till the end, not giving up despite facing insurmountable odds.
Tulare Western was yet another tough loss (15-39). The Emperor’s offense struggled downfield, battling for each yard, but came up short, despite their strong start. The defense was going through a rough patch as both of their defensive starting tackles Pedro Hernandez(74) and Austin Kelly (47) were out. This left an evident fault in Dinuba’s defense as half of the starting D-line was gone, leading to massive running gains for Tulare Western.
The game against Lemoore was the Emperor’s last guaranteed home game of the season. It was also Senior night, honoring our graduating players. Yet again, it was a tough game and a loss for the Emps. The final score was (20-52).
Despite all the setbacks, the Dinuba Emperors still hold their heads high and hope to come out victorious for the final games of the season.
