Noize is a local teen band that started at a pool party almost by accident. A fun night turned into a music-making venture when the members, Jonathan Domingcil, Jeremiah Domingcil, and Samuel Rodriguez, bonded over their shared music interests. While the members have influences from 90s icons like Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell to Peter Steele, Noize brings a unique energy and authenticity to their performances.
Although the band isn’t well known yet, they have had many memorable moments. Their performance at this year’s Icebreaker pool party was one of their major milestones, marking their first time playing a full set for an audience.
“The Icebreaker was special. It was the first time I tried singing, and seeing people pull out their phones while I sang my first original song gave me the confidence to keep writing,” said Johnathan Domingcil.
Preparing for a 45-minute set taught them how to manage tight schedules and adapt, which gave them valuable experience as a group. Another highlight was their song “Macaroni Chicken Nugget,” which they created on the spot and which became one of the band members’ favorites.
Creating music for Noize is an ongoing collaborative process. Often, they start with a stem chord progression, brainstorming lyrics while watching shows like “The Amazing World Of Gumball.” From there, they build songs that show their raw and unfiltered sound. “A band needs to be vulnerable with each other and open to criticism along with a strong bond with band mates to make the song as a whole.” Says Jeremiah Domingcil. They prefer to avoid overproduction, trying to keep their music honest and natural. “I try to make the band something I like, not what other people like. Our sound is raw and unpolished, and that’s how we want it to be,” said Johnathan Domingcil. For them, success isn’t about fame. It’s about connecting with fans who appreciate who they are as a band and their vibe, even if it’s a small audience.
Looking forward, Noize hopes to play at more local shows and grow a loyal fan base in their community. They’ve set their goals on venues like the Great Hall and the Wake House, aiming to make their mark. For Noize, the journey is as important as the destination, and they are prepared to bring their music to the people as they get ready for their next gig: Spring Fling!
