Throughout the season the Dinuba cross country team has had their fair shares of ups and downs. Through all this, each athlete in the team has given it their all and all improving in their own way this XC season, from better PR, endurance, or building a stronger mentality. As the days pass, championship day comes closer for our Dinuba cross country team.

Rough Rider Invitational
On Oct. 18th, was the Rough Rider Invitational at Woodward Park, there were two different races, a 3500 meter race that all of Frosh/Soph and JV took part in. The other race was a 5K race that only varsity partook in. For the most part this was a very hard and challenging race as there was good competition and the course was fairly difficult. Nonetheless, this wasn’t a challenge our Emperors couldn’t overcome!

Clovis North Twilight Invitational
On Oct. 25th, was the Clovis North Invitational at Clovis North High School, where middle schools, high schools, and running clubs came together and competed against each other. Everyone ran a 2 mile race, but this was not like any other meet since the racers ran in the night hence the name of the meet. This meet brought the opportunity for Dinuba to run against very fast runners, which created the chance for more growth.

Woodward Park Classic
On Nov. 1s, was the Woodward Park Classic, which was held at Woodward Park, all runners ran a 5,000 meter race. The course was very challenging as it had many hills and curves. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop the Emperors from finishing strong and achieving new personal bests!

Central Valley JV XC Championships
On Nov. 6th, was the Central Valley JV XC Championships at Woodward Park, all runners ran 2 miles. The course was fairly similar to the Woodward Park Classic, but the finish was hard to overcome since it ended with 3 steep hills. One of Dinuba’s runners ended up winning a medal for making it to the top ten, which was Marcu Carillo.

WYL Championships
On Nov. 13th, was the WYL Championship at Mission Oak High School, which was the league championship and all racers ran 3 miles. The course was mostly flat, but there were moments where the racers described that they were mentally fighting with themselves to finish the race. Even though the race was fairly challenging this didn’t cause Dinuba to give up. Furthermore, one of Dinuba’s runners ended up winning a medal for making it to the top ten, which was Gisele Duarte. Now the team will be heading to Valley.
