The Dinuba Wrestling team JV and Varsity squads started off the season at a scrimmage against Redwood High School and league rivals Tulare Western. The scrimmage was held at Tulare Western on Wednesday, November 13. They have then had several tournaments and invitationals, including the most recent one in neighboring town Reedley.
It was a two day wrestling event as the girls wrestled on Friday, December 13 and the boys wrestled on the following day on Saturday, December 14. As the season starts to get under way, senior girls captain Michelle Sandoval who placed 3rd on their first tournament at the Mission Oak meet on Saturday, November 23, goes on about the growth of the team. As she says, “Some improvements I’ve seen from the team has probably been the time they have put into conditioning and showing up everyday to practice. It’s been a tough start but we’re slowly coming together and I see a lot of improvement.”
They look to take major strides into their game, as they haven’t had a strong start compared to previous years. They look to shake that up for their next meet at home for the annual Dinuba Invitational on Saturday, December 28 during the Winter break. They later have their senior night against the Lemoore Tigers on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. It’s a monumental moment for all Seniors who have put in the endless work to improve themselves and the team. As seniors show off their leadership qualities, senior boys captain Vincent Varges says, “I show them how to be a leader by pretty much treating myself how I would treat them, you know. I take advice from anyone else just like how they would take advice from me, so it’s just being selfless knowing that anyone can improve.”
