Introduction
When someone asks to describe, “What is love to you?” It can be hard to put into words, but the moment we feel it, we know what it is. One can feel love towards family and friends, but one can feel a different form of love towards a special individual. As Valentine’s Day comes around the corner, the DHS Grapevine asked students about the most romantic moment they’ve experienced in their lives. The answers we received reflect how powerful one’s love can be for someone they deeply care about. Thus creating such special memories one will hold for the rest of one’s life. After reading these responses from our fellow students, we hope you felt the love through your screen as much as we did. Love is one of the hardest things to articulate, but it’s one of the most beautiful human sentiments that we all share in our hearts. Happy Valentine’s Day to all of Dinuba High School from the Emperor Grapevine Staff!

“The most romantic moment I had ever experienced was being caressed lovingly by someone I had no idea I’d ever be with in my life to where simply existing around me would always bring a smile to my face no matter what. At the same time, every second with them would always boost up my day ever since the first day we met. Also knowing that they were your lover, your best friend, and someone you could talk with for hours without it being awkward is the best feeling ever.”
–DHS Student
“It was Valentine’s Day my freshman year and I sent a cookie with a note saying “I love you may we meet again in the future” i loved him but it was a forbidden love. He knew it was from me and he went during his 4th period and bought me flowers, then after we started talking and started dating once again. Our 2 souls were connected and this just went to show how much he cares for me regardless of the past.”

“This story takes place last year at the old high school of my sophomore year! My bf and I were walking to our fifth period, so this is after lunch. I was having a terrible week. I had just failed a math test I had studied for that needed me to pass to bring my grade up and my mom’s car broke down earlier that week. I’m pretty sure he noticed my dry attitude that week because he pulled out this beautiful hand-crafted card, full of inside jokes and funny memories that we have created. At the end of this letter he listed things he found beautiful in me and asked if I had wanted to go grab Wimpys and head to his house once school ended that day. the tears I had to fight back when reading that card omg… this man is the most beautiful guy I have ever laid my eyes upon and I wouldn’t trade the world for him <3”

“Someone left a note on my desk that read as follows: “I’ve been watching you from afar. You have always been so lovely to me and smelled so nice whenever you come close. This morning, you smelled like a bouquet of roses, though it may just be that new shampoo you bought. I hope you’ll continue to pass by me, it’s always a treat. Love your secret admirer.” It was so sweet!”

“Going to the movies with my gf at the time and watching Imaginary. I remember getting scared (the movie wasn’t even that scary, but that bear scared the bejeebers out of me) and her laughing at me afterward because of the fact that the movie wasn’t THAT scary, but she still let me hide in her shoulder whenever the “scary” bits would come on.”

“Falling in love with my lover again was the most romantic thing I’ve ever done. Everything he has done for me, no matter how small, is highly appreciated. A gorgeous gold ring with a heart on it was my favorite of the two great gifts I received as a surprise for Christmas last year. He presented it to me after I had been talking about it nonstop, and it was the loveliest thing imaginable that he could remember something so simple. Every day I cheer it up, and I haven’t gone a day without it on my finger. I appreciate all that he has given me so much that I nearly have heart attacks when I think it’s gone. I think it’s nice that someone would take the time to remember something so little. Although it’s not the only romantic moment I’ve had, this one stands out in my memory.”
