The 2025 Cinco de Mayo pageant is just around the corner, and this year’s contestants are excited to take the stage. With a mix of first-time participants and experienced competitors, each one is ready to represent Dinuba and celebrate their culture.
Among them is Ashley Campos, a senior who feels both “excited and nervous” as she prepares for the big event. Abby Soto, also a senior, never expected to join a pageant but is grateful for the support from her fellow contestants. “I never thought I would be in a pageant, but the support from my fellow candidates has been incredible,” she says.
Melanie Juarez is competing for the first time, and she hopes to inspire younger girls. “I want to be a role model for younger girls and encourage them to embrace their culture,” she shares, adding that fellow contestant Mireya Pena inspired her to join.
Some underclassmen are also stepping up to the challenge. Paula Moreno, a 10th grader, is excited to make new friends, while Viviana Delgado, also in 10th grade, is pushing past her fears. “I was limiting myself and felt I was doing too little. With the encouragement of friends, I decided to push myself,” she says.
An 11th grader, Karmen Rivera describes the experience as “crazy but exciting.” She hopes to create her path and try something new.
Seniors Zaira Castillo and Mireya Pena round out the group, each bringing their own style to the competition. For Mireya, this is her first time in a pageant, and she’s looking forward to the experience.
As the big day approaches, these contestants work hard, build friendships, and build confidence. The Cinco de Mayo pageant will be a night of talent, culture, and celebration. The pageant takes place on April 26.
