Growing up, we saw movies where the kids were in High School and had such a big group of friends. It looked so amazing to be in High School and do all those activities they showed in movies, like the beautiful school dances and a wonderful date. We all, as kids, hoped for that unreal High School experience, but we got hit with reality.
The most popular series is “High School Musical”, obviously, at Dinuba High School, most of us can not hit those notes without a voice crack. And most of us would never not do things without feeling embarrassed, we don’t even participate in rallies. In the movie ” Brats”, on the first day of school, people are being separated into the group of people they belong to, or it is based on sports, likes, but obviously, that is far from reality sometimes. In high school, friend groups have so much diversity, and friendships don’t have a selection in Dinuba High School.
In all high school movies, we see how school dances are a big deal to them, and there is always drama before the dance, and two people fall in love. Well, it is not so far off at Dinuba High School, although in movies they don’t show how you need to have good grades and attendance to be able to attend the school dances. Or even how stressful it is to find a dress no one has seen or worn before. Before our school dances, there is always the struggle of finding a date, but as a couple of years have passed, we’ve seen how going with your group of friends is much better and more fun. Who needs a date either way, right?
Dinuba High School isn’t exactly portrayed as it is in movies, but all the events and changes that have happened in these four years have been memorable to me. High school has been different for all of us, but we share the connection of having seen each other grow up together as a class. It wasn’t all fiction, but it was just as good, and soon it will be nostalgic for us seniors. It has been our high school movie in a way only seniors will remember. Graduation day in movies has always been shown as bittersweet and the best day of high school all together, that soon will be us my fellow classmates.
