The 2025 NBA Playoffs have been full of surprises. Some of the biggest teams are already out, and now we’re down to four exciting teams in the Conference Finals. Young stars are taking over, and anything can happen. Here’s a look at the matchups and my predictions for who will win the championship.
Western Conference Finals:
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
This is a matchup between two young and hungry teams. The Thunder have been amazing this season, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams, they racked up a stellar 68-14 record. They play fast and are a very good defensive unit. The Timberwolves are tough, with Anthony Edwards playing like a future superstar and going into this he has the chance to become the face of the league.
Key to the series:
Timberwolves- Don’t turn over the ball and let OKC get out in transition
OKC- Jalen Williams must show up
Prediction- OKC wins series 4-2
Eastern Conference Finals:
New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers
The Knicks are back in the spotlight. Jalen Brunson has been amazing in the playoffs, and coach Tom Thibodeau has the team playing strong defense. But the Pacers play fast and score a lot. Tyrese Haliburton leads their offense, and they’re hard to stop.
Key to the series:
Pacers- Play defense
Knicks- Take care of business and hit shots
Prediction- Knicks in 5
NBA Finals Prediction
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New York Knicks
OKC, despite the best record in the league, was doubted, with many saying they are “too young”, “inexperienced”. Now with the MVP of the NBA Shai Gilgeous-Alexander they are likely to be heavily favored. Now, the Knicks, after years and years of disappointment, have made it back to the finals after decades. Madison Square Garden will be loud. It’s been a scary environment to play in with the fans being reckless. Jalen Brunson leads the Knicks he has quickly become a superstar, and he could cement his legacy as an all-time great for the Knicks with a title.
Prediction
Thunder win the championship in 5 games
OKC’s defense is far too elite for the Knicks to handle. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be named Finals MVP and will become the greatest player in OKC history
