On May 12, Dinuba High School held its annual College Signing Night ceremony in the new gym. The event celebrates graduating students who are moving on to the next significant chapter of their lives. Many students were honored and signed to the college to which they were accepted, and were able to celebrate with family and friends. Students attending four-year universities, CSUs, and participating in the Pete P. Peters Honors Program at Reedley College were assigned tables to decorate and represent the college they would be attending.
Projector screens cycled through photos of the students and their college for those in attendance to view. Photo booths were provided for students to take pictures with their friends and families, and Lifetouch was there to take professional photographs as well. Before the ceremony began, the staff provided snacks for students and their families. Snacks included free fruit cups with tajin, fresas con crema, sodas, and crepes.
The ceremony was headed by both Mr. Halstead and Mrs. Lopez, who announced the names of the students and the colleges to which they would be signing. Students lined up in alphabetical order on the left and right sides of the gym and went up to sign a certificate of admission. Keynote speaker Dr. Saul Jimenez-Sandoval, President of California State University, Fresno, gave some inspiring words to students attending this upcoming semester. After everyone had signed up for their college, a big group photo was taken of every student in attendance, and another photo was taken of every admitted Fresno State student.
The night was a success and a great time for everyone in attendance. Students were honored for their achievements and hard work as they embarked on their college journeys. The event was filled with celebratory decorations, and the highlight was having students share their achievements with family and friends. A sense of accomplishment and pride filled the gym as students began to cycle out and head home. This tradition is an excellent way of honoring Dinuba High graduates.
