Skills USA Competition
Skills USA recently held a competition in which thousands of students competed against each other. Some of our Dinuba students made it to a level beyond state and have made it to nationals, where they will compete against other SkillsUSA members from America in Georgia.
The Event That Won
Skills USA holds an annual competition, and one of those is which chapter can be the most charitable. This is the first time someone in the valley has ever gotten the award; it usually goes to richer chapters like schools in Los Angeles, but we won this year’s most charitable chapter. Many people worked hard to win, and planning went as far back as May 1st, 2024. The event centered around a theme: Disney and other childhood characters. Organizations like California Food Bank, Yanez Construction, Harris Construction, and the DUSD Foundation. Organizations like these contributed a lot in addition to other DHS programs, providing support to the event by volunteering, and DHS students donated other items like pastries and refreshments. FFA, NJROTC, ASB, and HOSA provided members as volunteers. The event took place on November 15th, 2024, in Dinuba High School’s west gym, where over 500 student volunteers and over 65 families attended. Needless to say, the event had brought in a lot of people and produced a lot of positive energy for the community.
Winners Behind the Event
Miriam Herevia, Kaithyln Salazar Ramos, and Sinai Sotos Santiago accepted this award on behalf of the whole chapter of 1004 students. The Central Valley hasn’t won this award in a long time, and these girls have earned serious bragging rights by bringing home the bacon to Dinuba and the Central Valley!
