On Tuesday, August 27, the girls’ volleyball team played its third season game against Sanger West. Before the game, the Emperor Grapevine had a chance to speak with volleyball players Emma Rico (#3), Delilah Rangel (#17), Nevaeh Garcia (#7), and Gisselle Hernandez (#10), who shared their feelings about the upcoming season and their experience being part of the varsity volleyball team.
“I really like the way I fit in when I’m working with my team, and I feel our team just works together really well, and I love playing volleyball,” said Neveah Garica, opposite hitter.
“You learn a lot of responsibility habits and like a lot of life skills, not just like the sport, but you know, being balanced with your school and athletics, staying fit and healthy,” added Gisselle Hernandez.
Team captain Emma Rico also touched upon the responsibilities that come along with being a captain, as well. “My responsibility is to make sure that everyone’s uplifted and positive.”
Nevertheless, these girls are ready to take this season’s gams headfirst.
“I just feel great about this game that we’re having today and just the rest of the games this season,” added Delilah Rangel.
Once the game against Sanger West began, the girls showed off their talent and skill as they won the first two matches, scoring 26:24 and 20:25.
After a game of triumph, it slowly turned into tribulation when Sanger West won the third game. With Dinuba winning the first two, it was still anyone’s game, but in the end, Sanger West won the fourth game, granting them a fifth game to break the tie.
The Lady Emperors ultimately lost the final match, but they never gave up and played their best till the very end.
