From a 5-6 (.454) record from the last installation to a 16-11 (.592) record, including a crucial eight game win streak, Dinuba’s volleyball team has hit a clutch stride and skyrocketed their hopes for the upcoming playoffs. With the strive for a better record, Dinuba has rattled off wins in 12 of 15 games, which has significantly increased the chance for improved seeding for playoffs. In league play, they boast a 5-3 record, coming from their most recent loss to Lemoore at home. They came up just short of redemption from their previous defeat to Lemoore as the sets were 3-1 in the Tigers favor.
Of Thursday’s result, Kaylee Leal, who won the All Tournament Award in the Farmersville tournament, said, “We could do better, we definitely improved so much and we can have a chance at winning the last two games.” They’re in second place in the West Yosemite League (WYL), right under first place Lemoore, who are undefeated in league play with a 8-0 record.
Dinuba was successful in their latest tournament at Farmersville, earning their way to first place. In the midst of their eight game win streak, the Emperor’s won three consecutive on October 5th at Farmersville to secure the victory. With the tournament win and the winning streak that propelled the team to a favorable spot in playoffs Coach Sonny Perez said, “Just hard work and they played together as a team and there was a lot of communication and they trusted each other but you saw it today, there were a lot of errors which is what got us.”
With the final two upcoming league play games soon to come, Dinuba are looking forward to a strong finish against two opponents they have beaten previously, Tulare Union and Mission Oak. The final game is Wednesday, October 23rd against Mission Oak at home for Senior Night for the senior girls.
