Dinuba High School presented the drama department’s biggest fundraiser of the year with the Haunted Auditorium. Students from both Drama 1 and 2 get to come together to create the Haunted Auditorium, an unforgettable experience for both participants and audience for Halloween.
Started by retired drama teacher Theresa Hylton several years ago, Haunted Auditorium allowed students to enjoy a thrilling experience before Halloween begins each year. This was the fourth year under Mr. Villigrana. The event is a fundraiser that goes toward helping the Drama department pay fees associated with drama productions.
Behind the scenes of Dinuba High School’s haunted house in the auditorium, students took time out of their day to prepare for this special event. Both Drama 1 and Drama 2 students participated in helping out. Each student that participated brought their own costumes. Students truly put in real efforts to perform well. Though this interactive experience was hard for the students, it was ultimately fun for everyone. Haunted Auditorium was presented over five days, including Halloween.
There were five total sections of the Haunted Auditorium’s pathway: the entry, backstage, downstairs, the basement, and out back to the exit after one last scare. All of them had either one or more actors at them, backstage and the basement having the most due to their larger areas. The students worked to make every night different from the one before. Students also decorated the scenery to enhance the ‘spookiness’ of the path. The areas that offered the most scares were the basement and exit.
Money that is made during the haunted house goes to the Dramatic Voices program. The Dramatic Voices Program is a program for Drama 2 students that allows them to buy things necessary for plays, including travel fees.
