Josiah Ochoa and Jalissa Espirito individually accomplished an incredible feat, as they have amounted to 1,000 points in Basketball with their time as students here in Dinuba High. They both hit the milestone in the month of January. Josiah Ochoa first hit the mark on January 7th against Sanger West in a 66-42 win. In that game, he had an incredible game, hitting 27 points to lead the team in scoring, which he has in many nights throughout the season. The hard work seemed to pay in well dividends as Josiah Ochoa says, “It feels good knowing that all my work paid off during the Summer, so it felt really good.”
Josiah Ochoa hasn’t spent all his time here in Dinuba, as he previously attended Redwood High in Visalia. To move here from there and to put an incredible stamp on his time here at Dinuba shows his drive and determination. Ochoa says, “It’s a better program here, I feel like and it made me a lot better especially hitting 1,000 points and I feel like it made me a better player.”
Jalissa Espirito, on the other hand, accomplished the milestone against interleague rival Lemoore Tigers as they cruised past them in a dominating 76-8 win. This victory was sparked in the new Dinuba Gymnasium at the new Dinuba High School. In the win, she scored 23 of the Girls’ 76 points. She has spent all her time here at Dinuba High and has led the charge as she is a four-year Varsity player.
This mark is a difficult monument to hit, and these players managed to make it. They deserve all the praise and glory for their hard work and dedication to the game they play.
