Secret admirers are known around the world.  Some people love the mystery of not knowing who the admirer is.  It plays to their egos that some unknown person is appreciating them. The thought of secret admirers is highly romanticized. However, no one seems to find this off-putting. In my opinion, secret admirers are creepy. 

In all honesty, does anyone ever think about consent? I mean everyone has boundaries, right? I don’t think many people like the idea of someone secretly watching them and leaving them notes. Does no one find it weird if you were to look in your locker and see a note saying, “You look so pretty with your hair up :)” You have to admit there’s a weird vibe there. If that were to happen to me, I’d be really creeped out.

At the same time, you never know if the person is actually obsessed with you.  I feel like no one really pays attention to that.  The secret admirer thing is also kind of stalker-ish. Because sometimes the notes can say something along the lines of “I’ve been watching you from afar and I think I’m in love with you.” That is kind of a red flag. I can’t be the only one who thinks that, right?

At the end of the day, people will have different opinions. Sometimes secret admirers can be cute. They can boost one’s confidence by knowing that someone likes them. But we don’t live in a rom-com. I prefer my admirers to be upfront.
