Dinuba High School is set to move to a campus next semester. However, many challenges come with moving to a new school and many students will be affected by the move for a variety of reasons.
One of the biggest challenges they may face is the change in their daily routines. Students have developed routines, such as their routes to classes, over the years of being at Dinuba High School. Navigating an unfamiliar campus can be a challenge for some students and can lead to them becoming overwhelmed.
Another challenge students may face is the possibility (and probability) that not everyone will be allowed to leave campus for lunch. Most students go off campus for lunch and eat at the restaurants nearby. This is set to change when we make the move to the new school. Principal Popp has mentioned that it is likely that only seniors with insurance and a car will be able to go off-campus for lunch. This will be a huge disappointment for students who aren’t seniors and don’t have a car or insurance. This may seem unfair to the sophomores and juniors who have previously had the freedom to leave campus for lunch and now face new restrictions.
Students may also face emotional challenges when moving to a new campus. For many, the old school holds sentimental value. Students have created many memories in classrooms and have created an emotional connection to Dinuba High School. Moving over to the new campus will be challenging for some students who have created fond memories here. Saying goodbye to a place where you’ve made many memories with friends and teachers can be tough for them.
While the new school offers students and staff exciting new opportunities, it also brings many challenges that some students may face during the transition to the new school.
