This year’s Club Fair took place on September 5, 2024. Despite the scorching weather that day, plenty of students showed up to check out what clubs were available. Here are some of the club choices for this year.
Ignite Club
Ignite is a faith-based club where they talk about Jesus’ teachings, learn about Him, and just share their faith overall. This club helps members to mature as believers and grow in God’s love. While Ignite has been a club here at Dinuba High School for a long time, it has also changed during the years here. The club’s original name was Campus Life Christian Club. The reason they changed the name was because they wanted people to “ignite” their fire for God. Ignite also stands for “In God Nothing Impossible Truly Exists.”
Ignite meets every Tuesday in room 210 with Mrs. Pennebaker. They also provide pizza for everyone who attends. They begin meetings with an icebreaker, so people can get to know each other. Afterward, they have someone who speaks about God’s words in the Bible. Before the meeting ends, they pray. When asked what this club meant to Juan Carlos Melendrez, he said, “To me, this club just means making a difference in the school campus because we’re surrounded by so much negativity. I feel like this club can make a difference by spreading Christ and humanity across campus for those who just need to hear it. We always keep our doors open and welcome everyone, to let them know that they’re loved.”
Art-Photography
Art-Photography is a club in which members have the opportunity to explore their creative and artistic side. Although Art Club has been here for a long time it’s now merged with photography. Art and photography are an outlet and place where students can get together with other people to collaborate, learn different art techniques, and keep up with the latest trends. Mrs. Stephens, the club’s advisor, stated her favorite part of the club is getting together with other artistic minds. “A bunch of creatives can get together and collaborate and share things all while learning from each other.” She also likes that teachers get more time to hone in on those who have an art appreciation. Their club’s goal is to allow people to unite and get to know one another. This club meets one Friday a month in room 201 and more when needed.
Key Club
The goal of Key Club is to do community service, encourage people to become leaders and get involved in our community. Samantha Montez has been in this club for the last couple of years and is now the Key Club president. Her goal is to keep the club growing and hopefully create some future leaders. When asked why students should join her club she said, “Students should join because it focuses a lot on community service like if you’re in the Med program or if you just go straight into a four-year university, it does give you a higher chance of standing out and getting accepted.” They meet in room 204 every third Thursday of the month. They also provide pizza for everyone who joins.
If you are interested in any of these clubs or any other clubs on campus, you can still join. Stop by the classrooms during the next meeting.
