The Dinuba High varsity football team is headed to the CIF D2 Playoffs! This time, as the No. 8 seed. The Emperors will face a familiar opponent in the first round: the Kingsburg Vikings, who come in as the No. 9 seed. The matchup is set for 7 p.m. this Friday, November 7th. All fans and supporters are encouraged to come out and pack the stands. All tickets must be purchased online through GoFan.

This game will be a rematch of an earlier season matchup, when Dinuba edged out Kingsburg, 21-16. That win gave the Emperors bragging rights and confidence, but both teams know playoff football is a whole different story.

Dinuba enters the postseason off a win last week against Mission Oak, the score being 28-14. The Emperors showed strong defense and big plays on offense. However, the Emps have also faced a significant amount of adversity over the past few weeks, with crucial injuries to a couple of senior starters. The phrase “Next Man Up” is heavily emphasized this week.

Dinuba and Kingsburg have a long-standing rivalry that spans many chapters and has been marked by numerous hard-fought battles. During the 2022-2023 playoffs, Kingsburg pounced on Dinuba in the first round on Kingsburg’s home turf.  This time, however, Dinuba will be the home team. This new chapter, taking place on Friday, promises to be electric, as the stakes couldn’t be any higher.
