Rattling off the season, the Dinuba Girls Basketball team has boasted an incredible record, having a 16-5 (.762) record against their opponents. During the new year, they went 7-0, including being undefeated against their league opponents by going 5-0 against them. About this incredible remark, Coach Bray says, “If we keep playing how I expect us to play, we should win league, and after that, it’s the seeding, where we’re either going to be high-seeded in Division III or low Division II, so the girls are just playing really well right now”.
On Wednesday, January 29th, for their latest matchup, they played the Hanford Bullpups for an away game. They beat them in an incredible feat. That will be their second game against them, as they defeated the Bullpups and put them in the kennel with a score of 73-25.
The Dinuba Boys Basketball team has been keeping on par with the Girls, whose record is 14-9(.609). So far in the season, they’re 2nd in league play, as they are 4-2 against their opponents. Recapturing success on the same trajectory as last year isn’t an easy triumph to obtain. Daniel Del Rio says, “Trying to do the same game plan as last year, the same techniques, and try to enter the games with the same mindset and hopefully we come out with the ‘W’, the same as last year”.
With playoffs looming around the corner, the Boys have high hopes. Josiah Ochoa says, “Hopefully, we can win the league because we have a chance since we’re in 2nd place, and hopefully, we can go all the way again and win the valley.”
The two teams have five games left in the season before playoffs start. Before that, the Homecoming game is on February 4th against the Lemoore Tigers at home for the Boys. They end the season on February 11th as they face Mission Oak. The Boys will play at home against them as it’ll be their Senior Night. The Girls Senior Night will be on February 6th against Tulare Union.
