This year’s running Homecoming Court proudly features three outstanding pairs: Julian Hernandez & Jocelyn Perez Vargas, Aiden Gonzalez & Leslie Guillen, and Sebastian Guzman & Guadalupe Hernandez. Each pair has shown dedication, involvement, and school pride throughout the week, representing the true Emperor spirit. Let’s meet the Candidates!
First, we have Aiden Gonzalez & Leslie Guillen, sponsored by Fellow Christian Athletes (FCA). Aiden and Leslie are both part of FCA and MED, and Aiden is also on the football team. “I think our favorite part has been dressing up, you know, seeing our [opponents], like being a little bit competitive,” says Leslie Guillen, recounting the week. Their campaign slogan: Run the play right— Vote Aiden and Leslie for HOCO!
Next, we have Julian Hernandez & Jocelyn Perez Vargas, sponsored by the Junior Class Council. Julian is on the football team and CMA, while Jocelyn is a part of MED and sports management for football, basketball, and track. When asked what has been the highlight of their week, Jocelyn replied, “Our highlight would be wearing outfits and just talking to new people that we’ve never talked to.” Their campaign slogan: Don’t fumble— Vote Julian and Jocelyn for HOCO!
And finally, Sebastian Guzman & Guadalupe Hernandez, sponsored by the Senior Class Council. Much like the others, Sebastian is on the football team, and Guadalupe is a part of the Band and SkillsUSA. When asked what their favorite part has been about Homecoming, Guadalupe proudly said, “I think our favorite part has been the lunch time activities!” Their campaign slogan: Team up and Vote Sebastian and Guadalupe for HOCO!
The week has been filled with themed dress-up days that encourage students to join in, have fun, and show Homecoming spirit.
Monday: Jersey day
Tuesday: Football Mom Vs. BBQ DAD
Wednesday: Workout Wednesday
Thursday: Refs Vs. Coaches
Friday: Football Players Vs. Emperor Fans
At lunchtime, the candidates competed in fun, sometimes challenging activities. Monday’s event was a balloon-popping contest with no hands, while Tuesday featured a ping-pong ball-and-cup stacking challenge. Wednesday’s activity was a Sweet Treat Relay, where the couples worked together through a series of challenges. First, one partner was wrapped in toilet paper before heading to the next station to play “Chubby Bunny” with marshmallows. Next, they fed their partner chocolate pudding and finally raced to the finish line to pop a balloon tied to each other’s ankles, completing the relay. The week will conclude with Friday’s pep rally, leading up to each court’s dance performance in front of the whole school, followed by the halftime crowning later in the night at Friday’s football varsity game.
