Finn Whitman is a 13-year-old boy who is living the dream. He’s part of Disney history as one of the five kids chosen to become interactive hologram guides around the Magic Kingdom. But when he falls asleep, he starts waking up in the park as his hologram form. He’s informed by an old cast member named Wayne that the Disney villains called overtakes, like Maleficent, are real, and they want to take over the Disney park. Wayne sends Finn and his four friends on a mission to find the Stonecutter’s Quill, a magical item that will stop Maleficent. Finn and his friends must use their new hologram forms to explore the magical park at night when the park is closed and solve the clues left behind by Walt Disney to find the Stonecutter’s Quill before Maleficent takes over the park.  

The story is full of magic, from holograms that interact with real-world objects around the park to characters like Goofy, Chip, and Dale, and from animatronics from Pirates of the Caribbean coming to life and roaming the park as if it’s second nature. Finn is an amazing character; he’s both a leader who takes charge of the mission and funny, enjoying a good laugh with his friends.

I enjoyed this book. The author, Ridley Pears, does an amazing job of creating Disney magic. I enjoy how he created the Magic Kingdom to have even more magic, with beloved characters coming to life and famous Disney rides like “It’s a Small World” not just rides, but also carrying their own magic when the park is closed. I would recommend this book to any fan, young or old, who loves Disney and the Disney Parks.
