After an incredible 41 years of service, Dinuba High School is preparing to say goodbye to one of its most beloved teachers. This year marks the end of an era as Mr. Weaver, a name synonymous with dedication and passion, retires from his lifelong commitment to education.
Throughout his career, Mr.Weaver has touched the lives of countless students, guiding them not only through academic challenges but also shaping them into well-rounded individuals. He is known for his help in growing the FFA department and for building the best S.H.I.E.L.D. program in California. Weaver stated that he served as an AG teacher for almost 20 years and won multiple state championships for the program.
“I started the Nursery Technology program. It was so good, Cal Poly students would come over to look at our program,” he said, proudly.
As Mr. Weaver steps into a new chapter, he plans to jump back into search and rescue volunteering in the Sierra forests. He also plans to continue working on his camp and going snowboarding.
“My brother says I don’t have an off switch, so it’s gonna be a tough one,” he said with a smile.
Dinuba High School staff have warm sentiments to share about Mr. Weaver as he prepares for this next chapter.
“Rod is the original ‘international man of mystery,'” stated math teacher Joe Schuster. “He has had many adventures across various places and professions. In addition, he is a great friend and a champion of the teaching profession. Rod is exactly who I want to be when I grow up!”
Science teacher Lucas Lichtenwaldt said, “Rod is a scholar and a gentleman. His generosity in all areas of his life is admirable. Dinuba High School is losing a pillar that has stood during the last five decades.”
History teacher Jeff Harris described Mr. Weaver as “a very generous teacher who has helped pay for yearbooks, Grad Night, Prom, and many more items.”
“Rod always came by to say hello and encourage me with a kind word,” said Tonya Pennebaker, a teacher in the science department. She added a message for him directly: “Thank you for your encouragement over the years!”
History teacher Fadra Kiehn also commented on his personal generosity. “Mr. Weaver always asks me how my dad is doing. He shows genuine concern for all of us. He is the most kind and charitable person. He gives willingly to anyone in need without hesitation. His smile and laugh brighten my day. He will be greatly missed. I am thankful for his kindness. I wish him the very best in his retirement.”
The school and community of Dinuba express their deepest gratitude for his unwavering commitment and wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement.
