On November 10th, Dinuba High School held its annual Sadies event at Dave & Buster’s. The theme for this year was “sports,” and students were encouraged to come wearing sports attire and jerseys. Students were able to eat, take pictures at the photobooth, and play a wide variety of arcade games. Students were also provided with an unlimited card for redemption games and $20 worth of redemption games. Students had the option to drive themselves to the event or be transported by a school-provided bus. Erin Tobias, the activities director, shared that the event was successful and had sold over 100 tickets.
The event was planned and organized by the sophomore class. Before Sadie’s became an off-campus activity for students to enjoy, it was actually a dance.
“Yeah, it was a dance,” Mrs. Tobias said, “but no one would really go, so now we do off-campus events and more people go now.”
Many students brought their dates or friends and had a great time. We talked to some students who had this to share:
“I think it’s really cool and I’m having lots of fun here!” said one DHS freshman.
A DHS senior agreed.“I think it was fun and a great way to spend my last Sadie’s.”
The event lasted from 7 pm to 10 pm, but those who drove themselves there were welcome to stay later. Couples were able to claim prizes using the points they earned from the games they played. The sophomore student council also included reserved seating for the DHS students who attended, students were able to order from Dave and Busters wide variety of food like pizza, wings, pasta, and other appetizers.
