This year’s Homecoming court honorably featured three amazing pairs: Alyssa Vazquez and Angel Delgado, Ab Martinez and Jacky Gonzales, and Benjamin Diaz and Adelina Castillo. Each pair demonstrated strong dedication through their commitment, involvement, and positive impact on the DHS community.
Alyssa Vazquez and Angel Delgado were sponsored by the Junior Class Council. Alyssa and Angel are both highly liked, and Alyssa is on the girls’ soccer team. Their campaign slogan is “we couldn’t have done it without you.” Alyssa said that “ my favourite part about running for HOCO king and queen was meeting new people and hopefully putting a smile on their face.” She said that her favourite dress-up day was “DISNEY DUO.”
Jacky Gonzalez and Ab Martinez were sponsored by the Senior Class Council. Jacky and Ab have shown school spirit and dedication. Their campaign slogan was,“ Don’t be dragged; vote for Jacky and Ab.” Ab said, “My favorite part about running for HOCO king and queen was seeing people’s reactions to the dress-up days.” Ab also enjoyed the “DISNEY DUO” dress-up day.
This week has been filled with themed dress-up days that encourage many students to come to school dressed for the day’s theme. The themes were:
Monday: Dress as your emotion
Tuesday: Villains vs. superheroes
Wednesday: Disney Duo.
Thursday: Tourist day.
Friday: Disney Royalty.
The homecoming rally took place on January 29th between fourth period and lunchtime. The rally was kicked off by a drumline, showcasing the HOCO spirit. After the drum line was some fun activities like “Wig Snatching” and “Stacking the boxes on top of each other.” Then, the candidates danced and showed their spirit with their skits. The rally ended with a short competitive basketball game between the girls’ and boys’ teams at DHS. They had to make a point by guessing a song, and whoever guessed correctly and first got to make a point over the other team.
Later, during halftime at the basketball game, Angel and Alyssa were crowned Homecoming King and Queen, respectively. Congratulations to all candidates!

This article made me think about how you could be like them by doing all the things they do together.

One thing I liked about this article was the week days where people dressed up because it encouraged people to come to school. This article kept my attention because it is interesting who won and what happened. Overall this article was effective because it teaches students to participate in the fun. One suggestion for improvement is to show pictures of the 2 winners at prom. I liked where people would all help vote for the participants getting fliers and posting instagram stories. One thing the author did well was give a lot of description of the participants. In concluion I really liked this article and should continue making more like these.
