On May 14th from 6:30 to 7:00, the DHS guitar class performed a concert of all the songs they learned this year. These concerts used to happen every year as a final for the class, but this is the first concert to happen since COVID. This year, for the students who performed,

it’s a form of extra credit. Not only did the guitar class play together, but there were students who sang while playing as well. Some of the students who performed were Kotah Rios, who played “Last Kiss” by Pearl Jam and “Hey There Delilah” by Plain White T’s, and Bella Navarro, who played “La Bamba” by Richie Valens and “Time of Your Life” by Green Day.

The concert was originally scheduled for May 4th, but was pushed to the 14th due to the weather. Mr. Domingcil, the guitar class teacher, has been trying to have a guitar concert for a while now, but it hasn’t happened since COVID hit.
”It feels like an honor because he was always talking about how he wanted to do a guitar concert but couldn’t, but I think he did it this year because he saw all these actual guitar players, and when he saw me, he just had to,” says Ramiro Fabian, who played at the concert. “I felt tension because I couldn’t find my guitar in the beginning. I felt relieved when I found my guitar. I needed to get my grade up because I wanted to end the year off with a C.”
The concert was successful, and the students showed all the work they put into learning the instrument and the songs. Hopefully, the concerts will continue in the future.
