As we all know, our new campus is lovely and well-kept. However, there is one minor issue: Trash is scattered around campus daily. There’s a significant amount of trash left behind after lunch. It is disconcerting to see how much trash there is! Every day, students discard food wrappers, plastics, and other items. It ruins the clean environment that we are lucky to have. We, as students, should make sure our campus is a clean, inviting environment. We should ensure our campus is one we can be proud of.
The build-up of trash can lead to more and more significant problems over time. The garbage can attract pests and bugs, especially since this area was a field before the school was built. Whenever garbage is left on the ground, it encourages many students to do the same thing, causing a chain reaction. In the end, this enables more pests to come onto the campus. Rats, roaches, and mice were quite a common issue on the old school campus. We do not need that same issue on our new school site. A dirty campus can ruin the reputation of our school. We would hate to have other schools talk harshly about our school or our students. Keeping the campus clean proves to other schools that our students are respectful and responsible and helps keep a healthy, safe space for everyone.
To fix this ongoing issue, we can come up with several solutions. More trash cans and recycling bins should be put around the campus. This will make it easier for students to dispose of their trash. Another thing that can help fix this problem is to have a club dedicated to keeping the environment clean. This would have more students willing to help remind people to keep the environment clean. The club would be able to separate the trash and plastics. And whoever wants to take the plastics to cash in can do it. Personally, I certainly don’t mind picking them up. It’s extra cash that I need in my pocket.
At the end of the day, it’s the student’s responsibility to pick up after themselves. Luckily, trash cans were put in more areas recently, but recycling remains an issue. Many students still leave plastics and cans around the campus. We, the students and primary stakeholders for this site should be responsible for picking up the trash that is deserted. Don’t be dirty and please pick up your trash and plastics. Trash being left on the ground is a huge issue that needs to be addressed. Please do your part and pick it up!
