The Culinary kitchen worked on creating different Thanksgiving recipes that anyone can try at home. Here are some recipes to try this Thanksgiving, along with comments from some of the chefs. They’re all easy recipes and really good, and Culinary encourages people to try them.
Stove Top Stuffing

- Boil one and a half cups of water and one-fourth cup of margarine or butter in a medium saucepan
- Stir in the stuffing mix pouch and cover the pan
- Remove it from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes
On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult was this recipe?
Mariah Vera: “I would say our recipe was a two out of ten. It was really easy .”
Would you recommend doing this recipe again?
Mariah Vera: “Yes, I would recommend making it again because it’s a simple recipe and it’s also really, really good.”
Mac and Cheese

1 pound mozzarella cheese, 1 pound Colby-Jack cheese, 8 ounces sharp cheddar
1 pound cavatappi pasta
1 teaspoon garlic powder, one teaspoon smoked paprika, one teaspoon coarse salt, ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons salted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 can evaporated milk, 2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- Preheat oven to 350
- Shred all the cheese in a large bowl and separate it into two halves.
- Cook pasta according to package instructions.
- Combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and ground pepper in a small bowl.
- Melt butter, then add half to the skillet and the other half to the prep bowl. Whisk in flour, then cook for 1 to 2 minutes. It should start bubbling.
- Add evaporated milk and whisk constantly. Once it’s thick, add heavy cream, the remaining half of the seasoning, and Dijon mustard, whisking until thickened.
- Add half of the shredded cheese mixture to the skillet, a handful at a time, and stir until completely melted and thick. Add pasta and stir.
- Transfer half to a baking pan and layer a third with the remaining cheese. Add the rest of the mac and cheese on top. Finish the rest with cheese and bake for 25-30 minutes.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult was this recipe?
Edwardo Lara: “6; it wasn’t really that hard because I’ve done it before. Only I messed up that time, but it was nice to do it again.”
Would you recommend doing this recipe again?
Edwardo Lara: “Yes, I would, because everyone who tried it was obsessed with it! In fact, I had to shoo some people away because everyone wanted more.”
Mashed Potatoes

3 pounds peeled potatoes
1/2 cup butter
1 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Ground pepper
1/4 to 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water by 1 inch. Season the water with a tablespoon of salt, then bring it to a boil. Then reduce the heat to medium and boil for 15-20 minutes. Drain the pot and put the potatoes back in it.
- Begin to mash them with a potato masher. After mashing them, add the butter, milk, and salt, and several grinds of pepper. Continue to mash and then, if you’re using sour cream, mix it in.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult was this recipe?
Andrea Canela: “Um, pretty easy. Making mashed potatoes is my specialty.”
Would you recommend doing this recipe again?
Andrea Canela: “Yes, it was really easy. I mean, I didn’t have to do a bunch of work, but I think the only thing is waiting for the water to boil. All of this patience!”
Turkey

On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult was this recipe?
Nathan Meraz: “I think my recipe wasn’t that difficult, but I would say there were some trial and error when it came to the spatchcock idea and the bacon idea, but getting through it, honestly, I feel confident in the final product.”
Would you recommend doing this recipe again?
Nathan Meraz: “I would recommend doing it again. I would recommend anyone trying this recipe, it’s printed out on a piece of paper. Just walk into Mrs. Macias’ class, and it’ll be right up there on the left side, and honestly, yeah, definitely a delicious recipe smells really good right now, but uh, we can only see until we have the final product ready and cut up.”
You can make these for your own family this Thanksgiving and use these recipes in the future too. These recipes are worth trying, and everybody in the kitchen enjoyed them.
