It’s that time of year again. In October, we “fell” back and now, in March, we “spring” ahead. Have you ever wondered why we do this? Here is a bit of information for you.
What Is Daylight Saving Time?
Daylight Savings Time is a setting where the clock moves forward in spring and back in fall, this happens because it is a better use of natural daylight. In America, the people move their clocks one hour forward in March and one hour back in September. Daylight Savings Time extends the evening during the summer months of the year.
When and where it began:
Daylight Saving Time first originated in Germany in 1916 during World War 1 as a way to conserve fuel during the war. Later on, Daylight Saving Time was passed into law with start and end dates nationwide.
What it does:
During spring, when Daylight Saving Time rolls around, you lose an hour of sleep, but you gain the beauty of more daylight in the evening, which leads to encouraging more outdoor activities, especially during the summer months. When fall enters the setting, you gain an extra hour of sleep, but the days seem to get shorter, and the sun disappears more quickly in the evenings.
Overall, Daylight Saving Time is a great thing that happens twice a year; it helps conserve energy and create longer and shorter days of sunshine, regardless of the time period of the Daylight Saving Time, whether we lose or gain an extra hour of sleep and daylight, Daylight Saving Time continues to affect the average human day. It teaches people the importance of how societies try to manage time and daylight during the changes in the settings, making it more efficient.
